"Google confirms AI search will have ads, but they may look different"
    https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/google/google-confirms-ai-search-will-have-ads-but-they-may-look-different/

I confirm that other search engines literally have same or better quality results nowadays, after Google self-admittedly lowered their quality for more advertisement profit.

I also confirm that if you still need/want to use Google but without their dangerous "AI" misinformation (https://todon.eu/@b9AcE/115422079438268399) generator, neither as only nor as any part of the results page, then the "udm=14" parameter still turns that trap off entirely, so for example this
    https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&num=50&pws=0&sout=1&noj=1&udm=14
sets language to English, turns off "SafeSearch", requests 50 results per page instead of infinite scrolling, turns off "personalized" search modifying their portrayal of reality to match their spying on you and uses the classic web-only search (=no "AI").

New study "News Integrity in AI Assistants" by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), organization for Public Service broadcasters. ───── • Almost half of all AI answers had at least one significant issue. • A third of responses showed serious sourcing problems. • A fifth contained major accuracy issues, such as hallucinated and/or outdated information. [...] Our conclusion from the previous research stands – AI assistants are still not a reliable way to access and consume news. ───── https://www.ebu.ch/research/open/report/news-integrity-in-ai-assistants Or, as a piece by Public Service broadcaster Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC): "Top AI assistants misrepresent news content, study finds" https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/ai-assistants-news-misrepresented-study-9.6947735 Or for-profit private Reuters: "AI assistants make widespread errors about the news, new research shows" https://www.reuters.com/business/media-telecom/ai-assistants-make-widespread-errors-about-news-new-research-shows-2025-10-21/ In short, as in every use: You MUST always yourself manually verify anything of any importance if it has been in any way touched by any so-called "AI", which includes checking original sources, proof reading, etc. If you don't, that is not you "using AI", that is you "being abused by AI".

Hot take (but hopefully not very): If you are using Google for general web search in [now], then you are using the Internet wrong.
For some specialized search variants (e.g. images) it is still just superior due to much larger indexing of Internet content, but for general web-search?
It is no longer a good choice, by their own, self-admitted at court, choice make their search worse for the purposes of making users scroll more through results so that they will get more advertisement-displays for more corporate profit.
If you're still using Google for general web-search now and are not restricted by corporate policies ir similar, you really, really should try some of the newer options and move on.

In case that got you interested..?
More custom parameter URLs (web-addresses) for Google similar to the customized web-search one https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&num=50&pws=0&sout=1&noj=1&udm=14 in the previous toot, in case you still want to/must use Google's search functions but somewhat de-enshittified through having parameters in the URLs:
      Image search: https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&num=50&pws=0&tbm=isch
      News search: https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&num=50&pws=0&sout=1&noj=1&tbm=nws&tbs=sbd:1
      Video search: https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&num=50&pws=0&sout=1&noj=1&tbm=vid

I still, however, seriously recommend you evaluate other providers for often higher quality search results in some categories and/or other personal priorities such as ethics and/or privacy:
