"Beestings" is a noun from Middle English via Old English via Old High German. Plural in form but singular or plural in construction, it means "the colostrum of a cow."

I am positive that this author was unaware, when they wrote of beestings multiplying as one breaks open a hive.

Bee stings. They meant bee stings.
