In the last 170 years, the biomass of wild mammals has decreased by 50%, while livestock biomass has increased by a factor of 5. Currently, 95% of the biomass of mammals on Earth is composed of humans and domesticated farm animals, while only 5% is composed of all wild mammals on land and in the sea. These numbers suggest a severe imbalance in the ecosystem, which is promoted by industrial agriculture.
