   Something that sounds cool for Californians: an easy way to send delete requests to 500+ data brokers all at once — for free.

   The system won't be available until January 1, 2026 and the data brokers won't start processing the requests until August 1, but still a nice step.

     @soaproot Oh, I was similarly concerned about the information getting into the wrong hands and being misused — not my first reaction, but one of the first. I was relieved to see the information required does not include your social security number. I'm also glad I have a unique name so mismatches aren't going to happen.

     I'm curious who developed the software that they'll be using.

     @jeridansky @soaproot Don;t know the software developer. At some point, there will be a live demo, so can probably find out then. I am plenty cynical, but I believe the information submitted will be secure and using the system will protect you, not further damage your privacy.

     @jeridansky @twrling Am I too cynical because my first reaction was to wonder whether the information submitted to DROP would fall into the wrong hands and be used to spam or track me? (This is in their FAQ, so I'm not sure that's my second reaction, just something I was musing about)
