"One other hurdle Trump will have to face, beyond the unconstitutionality of running for a third term, is that voters don’t want him to run again. Trump barely eked out a second-term win last year, failing to win majority support in the popular vote and having a comparatively smaller Electoral College victory compared to most other presidents in U.S. history. His current approval rating is incredibly low, making him a deeply unpopular president less than one year into his current term." https://truthout.org/articles/trump-third-term-is-being-planned-out-maga-ally-steve-bannon-says/

@fkamiah17 He's hated, but the mobilisation against him is largely impotent. I think it will change but you're right, it will probably only be by 2028, assuming there's anything left of his opposition by then.

@MediaActivist It still stuns me how many people are (a) crying about it being "unconstitutional", as if he gives a shit about that; or (b) surprised, because y'know, they were selling the third term merch at CPAC 2024, before he even won the election.
The only thing that baffles me is that they're not taking it more seriously as a society, because it's almost too late.

@fkamiah17 You're right. I hope they don't have to learn the hard way.

@MediaActivist The whole "No Kings" thing drives me mad. RSVP-ing to your local Dems for a Saturday afternoon jamboree once every six months with thank you notes from your local PD is *not* how you fight back against fascism, but it's all some people seem to think they need to do.

@fkamiah17 Incredible. The reality they can't face is that Trump never won the election, Harris lost it. That's the sad truth. It was appalling. But the same professional politicians perceive this as a game - because they can afford to.

@MediaActivist You only have to look at the kind of replies you get when you point this out to centrists to see that they probably will. There are still thousands of people posting pictures of Biden and Harris with captions like "here's the guy/woman who didn't do x fascist thing" 🙄
And she's not so quietly planning to run again in 2028, having learned precisely fuck all from last time, if the reactions to protests at her book tour are anything to go by.
