    The populist.

    Moves one square at a time and cannot take pieces, but when it is adjacent to a pawn, the pawn and any pawn that is in a square next to it flip colour.

      @selzero The Maker. Can add squares to the board in any direction by moving to the non-existent space. Moves two existing spaces in any one direction per turn, or one space per turn if creating new squares.

      The Capitalist. Must remain behind the king or bishop, but somehow can always capture pawns that advance too far.

      @selzero The vibe coder.
      Moves to a completely random tile. if there is a piece on the tile it gets taken out and the player owning it cannot move the next turn. (Can even take out your own King if your unlucky)

      @selzero or (sry i have so many ideas about this):
      The (volatile) zombie:
      can only move 1 tile per turn and can only infect another piece, 1 tile away and not take them out. But remains on the field. If the infected piece is used or taken out. It explodes sweeping clean a radius of 2 tiles AoE around it.

      @selzero or another one:
      The Facehugger:
      Cannot take pieces. Instead it infects a piece and the facehugger gets taken out from the game. Next time the infected piece is used or tried to be taken out. It turns into a xenomorph which can move in any pattern but only directly to a piece closest to it. (friend or foe alike)

      @selzero The Dalek. Exterminates any adjacent opponent piece, and occasionally subs off its own side. Can only move in straight lines and not diagonally until 1988.

      @selzero The Archer. Can take out any piece it has a straight-line shot at, without moving from the square it’s on. Can move one square any direction. (Can’t move and shoot on the same turn.)

      @selzero the religion leader:
      needs 3 turns to move 1 tile. can convert queens, pawns and knights and kill kings. can only be taken out if you outnumber the pieces that your opponent has left. Has a 25% chance to kill a random piece of the player the leader belongs to at movement. (gameplay wise maybe not that great, this one is more for fun)

      @selzero the sniper:
      can only move 1 tile radius or charge up a shot across the board which takes x turns buildup. after the charge up, it fires and kills the first piece in its line of sight (both player pieces) or the target if line of sight isn't blocked after the charging turns.

      @selzero The “Investigative Journalist”. If it ends up adjacent to a bishop the piece is removed on paedophilia charges but if the IJ piece is taken by a king or queen piece then the bishop is returned to the board.

      @selzero the cursor wrapper : can move off any edge of the board forward, backward, sidewards, or diagonally and return from the opposite side to capture pieces or occupy squares so long as no other piece is in the way
