The first time I did tcp over audio baseband is in 2012 or so when I got a free laptop that originally came with like win98 on it but I needed to transfer files to it, so I got like puppy dog linux or whatever booted from a usb or cd or somethgin and it was terrible and slow and a lotof dropped packets but being a teenager looking back I am impressed with myself
I was fortunate enough to have access to a unix system over dialup as a kid, and command line was the gate keeper.
I still have a library of about 60,000 ascii art pieces in their original cp437 format. I have a script that selects a file at random and cats it at a rate of 1 line ever half-second in opaque terminals on all of my monitors as a screen saver. It clears between files. I have a few hundred thousand AI art pieces that are randomly selected as the background every 30 seconds as part of that script.
I'm getting in the shower right now, but I can throw it on Google drive later. I did it once before for P. You'll need something like CP437 to read them in utf8 terminal.
@Humpleupagus@tyler@zero@graf I was just as fortunate but for me it was windows NT 3.1. I was a game art and review downloader. Man, good times. I remember printing over 30 pages for castlevania once. I would love that ASCII stuff too.
