   It's quite something to witness a nation state that, despite being built on slavery, justified its own existence as the "land of freedom" and "liberty" with a statue for such supposedly welcoming the world's poor, persecuted, huddled masses, now pride itself on mass deportations -- ignoring its own indigenous people and in the process revealing its white supremacist agenda (if that wasn't already apparent).

     I guess you saw they deployed the National Guard to Portland last night?

     @zenkat Yes, I would never conflate any centralisation of hierarchical power through the nation state with the actual people. That's why I emphasised the state itself in my statement. (Wow, a lot of "state" in this reply, ha!)

     @MediaActivist Makes more sense when you realize that while the US may be one nation-state, we are actually eleven distinct nations, each with very different cultures and values, glommed into a single state.

     Not all Americans embrace white supremacy. The Yankees and Midwesterners have always detested slavery. The Deep South has always celebrated it. We fought a civil war over it, for crissakes.

     Also important to remember that a key strategy of Russia psyops has been to inflame the internal divisions of their enemies to cause them to fracture and collapse. Now that their asset is in the White House, it's no surprise they are marching us to civil war. This has always been the plan.
