Germany about-faces on privacy and is going to support Chat Control https://signal.org/blog/pdfs/germany-chat-control.pdf

    > We are alarmed by reports that Germany is on the verge of a catastrophic about-face, reversing its longstanding and principled opposition to the EU’s Chat Control proposal which, if passed, could spell the end of the right to privacy in Europe.

If you are a German citizen PLEASE contact your representatives!

@mntmn @cwebber this helps a little https://fightchatcontrol.eu/#contact-tool but not with “whom do I actually need to send it to?”, but but a friend just sent it to every German MEP

@cwebber tbh i'm not 100% sure what's the best way for contacting representatives in germany (i've recently seen a guide for how to do that in the US where it appears common practice?). also i find it extremely strange that this is happening in germany, which was once the "datenschutzland"

@mntmn @cwebber Hi there, in my experience the best way ist Email. You should be able to look them up on the respective parliament website. I've done it before and always received an answer. I also know from people working at MdB offices that they are actually reading them and sorting them. So it can make a difference.

@cwebber So please share that we had a simular situation in germany 16 years ago. Leaded by Ursula von der Leyen. Everyone has to know that they are trying again. But now on european level!
