I didn't realize this would get shared around, so let me clarify.
July 24 is Pioneer Day in Utah. A state holiday, although my coworkers were astonished to be informed it's not a national holiday.
In recent years there's been some backlash, given the pioneer genocide of indigenous folks.
Many people celebrate Pie-and-Beer Day instead.
Couple years later I moved to UT and saw it from the other side.
I thought July 24th was the most important holiday of the year growing up. More fireworks and celebration than July 4th! 🤷
I used to work in FL for a company whose other call center was in UT. The FL people were shocked and confused that the UT people got July 24 off as a holiday.
