    Wait...

If streaming apps require you to pay and still have ads... why don't I cancel all of them and just watch the free streaming apps?

    Free Apps with *NO* ads:
    - Kanopy (uses library card)
    - Hoopla (uses library card)
    - PBS

    Free Apps with ads:
    - Fawesome
    - Freevee
    - Pluto
    - Tubi
    - Roku Channel
    - Plex
    - Sling Freestream
    - Fandango at Home
    - Filmzie
    - Filmrise
    - Crackle
    - Xumo Play

    I'm sure I've missed plenty.

Anyhow if I'm paying for the pleasure of watching ads, I'll just not pay.

    Also 🏴☠️.

@tinker I've got a hard rule where I will not pay for ads. If there are ads, I'm not paying.

Of course, there's no sin in infringing the copyright of fascists or their collaborators.

      PBS is kinda half free
There's a free section that's set by your local station, some are more generous than others, and if you want to watch more you need Passport.
Your station sets the donation level but it's usually a $5+ monthly contribution, or a $60+ yearly one.
Considering it's very inexpensive for a streaming service and funding your local PBS station it's absolutely well worth it though.

@tinker I find Tubi charming and I kind of like the ads. Gives me permission to look at my phone or get a snack. And they suck at timing ad breaks for 1980s TV so it’s kinda funny.

@tinker also helps me keep abreast of the gambling scam apps and detergent markets.
