I wonder if an eGPU for Steam Deck is worth it 🤔. too expensive for me really, I would have to save up money for a good while.
the only bad thing is it supposedly doesn't work on SteamOS, but idk for other distributions. maybe Bazzite would work-

@dcc @iska @ra1n Man if only there was a port that let you do that without having to take it apart 🙃

@dcc @iska @ra1n OP literally mentioned steam deck, to get the m.2 slot cables out of a Steam Deck you literally need to cut holes in the casing LMAO

@ra1n@pleroma.ra1n.digital I got a good 600W PSU for like $60. In terms of power even a $60 RX580 will be better than the deck's, and the most expensive GPU that'll make sense is 9060xt 16gb which is $350-400.
Anything more will probably be bottlenecked by the CPU, lack of PCIe bandwidth or the low screen resolution -

@iska well I'd have to buy a good GPU, and then a power supply for it which is like £700 probably, but yea the oculink adapter isn't that much money iirc -

@ra1n@pleroma.ra1n.digital egpu should work everywhere at least if you fiddle with configs
Idk why you think it's expensive when iirc you just need an adapter (pennies) and any AMD GPU -
