The fucked up thing about the rise of "cringe culture" as well as fandom toxicity is we rapidly came to a place where it was absolutely unacceptable to make fun of a product from a major corporation, but it was completely fine to mock individual people, often children.

Social media made it so you couldn't joke about "big" things because the fanbase would find and harass you. But random nobodies were safe to bully, and so people did.
