Since Trump retook office, the United States has withheld as much as $1 billion in funding for the U.N.,

and the organization has moved to cut staff as a result.

Trump said the U.N. is “not even coming close to living up to that potential.”

During his remarks, Trump also urged world leaders Tuesday to
❌ reject policies to fight climate change, calling them a “scam,

and criticized European nations for continuing to buy oil from Russia amid its war with Ukraine.

He also defended his sweeping tariffs policy, calling it “a defense mechanism.”
