1. A Saw-whet Owl is contained inside a draw-string pouch, lime-green with yellow polka dots (the bag, not the owl). Only the owl's head is visible; coffee and cream with yellow eyes. A tuft of feathers at the back are lifted by the bag like a fauxhawk.

  Wild Bird Research Group on Instagram: "We’re officially in owl season! The first two nights, we saw an impressive nine Northern saw-whet owls migrating through our research sites. We’re going to create more educational reels that break down the research process step by step throughout the season. The owls start their research journey in special cloth bags to secure them before we start the data collection comfortably. You can see nothing more magical or frankly cute than a Northern saw-whet owl coming out of a bag. If you’d like to participate in one of our research nights, check out the listing in our bio. We have the first night of educational programming this coming Wednesday. All bird are handled with proper permits and training. Never handle wild birds without them."
