  @BasedLunatic @PNS @pete_zeratt @sunmcnukes it's not crap you just need to use it for what it's for. It's for feeding some information and having it produce text about whatever you fed it that looks pleasing and is related to the information you gave it.
  
  This is a really big deal if, for example, you have a million photographs and you want a searchable text database of what's in them, like "I want all women wearing jeans" or "I want men with a tie". AI can do that.
  
  A different kind of AI (stable diffusion) can find things that don't belong, or things that have a certain shape or set of features. Often, the impressive things that make the AI *look* like it can think are a combination of stable diffusion and an LLM. It's smoke and mirrors, it's just that stable diffusion is a lot more mature of a technology because gooners are using it to make pornography and basically nobody is using LLMs to goon with because they're so rudimentary you cannot even get them to reliably produce smut.

  @BasedLunatic @PNS @pete_zeratt @sunmcnukes it's not capable of lying but that's not the truth. It literally is a machine that predicts the next word and it really does nothing else. That's what an LLM is. That's all it is. It's like the part of your brain that takes an idea and turns it into a sentence. You feed it a poorly-formed idea of a bird and it spits out what kind of bird it is and a sentence about it. It's entirely missing all learning and reasoning ability and nobody has discovered how to make an AI think yet.

  @sunmcnukes @PNS @pete_zeratt a large percentage of memes are ai, I just asked ai about a meme about them asking Trump in a interview for declassifying various files, and there was a long silence when asked about Epstein files. Together with a humorous music. I asked ai to analyze if the silence was real from where the clip came from, and it was just something like 0,4 seconds silence in original clip
