   At the conference this week, I met a person who earned a degree from a lab in Japan studying crayfish behavior. He said his professor kicked his stool and yelled at him when he got angry at the way the student use the tools. The prof looked down upon and laughed at some students who did not have hand skills. This is only a few years ago.

   日本にあるザリガニの行動を研究するラボで学位をとった方の話を聴いていたら、教授は腹を立てると学生の椅子を蹴ったりしていたらしく、小手先技術が上達しない学生をなじり見下し笑いものにしていたという話を聞いた。それがつい数年前だったというのが驚きだ
