Being a wrestler in the 80s must have been phenomenal fun except for the backstabbing and the chronic pain from injuries

@augustus for me personally there is something extremely appealing about living your life constructing a fantasy with so much dedication that many people believe it no matter how ridiculous you are being.

@Moon @augustus This is a big reason why I loved Aronofsky's "The Wrestler" so much.
It really offers a heartfelt take towards both this constructed fantasy, along with the brotherhood shared by the guys working it, who are usually friendly, and straight up plan out their fights together as part of a performance.
But the protagonist is also just a really sad guy that made some bad life decisions. He's trying his best, but all he knows is the reality and fantasy of how he lives.

@sean @augustus i can very easily empathize with being both capable and just fucking up over and over.
