There is a trolley on a track, and you have control of a switch that could divert the trolley onto a different section of track. There is nothing on either track, and the two tracks later re-unite, so the trolley ultimately ends up in the same place regardless. You are paid to operate the switch by the person who owns the trolley and the track. And the switch. And your small apartment that you pay them to live in. They live in the big house up on the hill and never ride in the trolley.
