Off the top of my head:
Never take anything personal, and don't get emotional. You're meeting strangers at their worst moment.
Don't escalate. Try to talk first. Just be calm and be direct.
Don't buy cheap gear. You'll just end up spending more money to replace cheap shit anyway.
I don't necessarily travel light, all my pouches and weapons (except gun) are on my plate carrier. Some people like the Batman style utility belt. It's all about muscle memory. Taser on left side, gun on right (if you're right handed)
Pay attention to details, and don't get complacent. You want a slow boring shift. It will go from 0-60 eventually. No need to look for trouble, it'll find you.
Never relex.

@SK1ZM
Mr skizm, I'm about to get into security. Any suggestions for a newbie? Things you would/would not have done if you knew more?
I live in a small million person city so its not super crazy yet
I remember you saying your belt was too heavy so travelling light is good.
