Matrix is the world's premier redundant federated child porn archival service

@bengo The thing the pedos do is register on a public matrix server and then join a room with all the illegal content which then streams all the data into this new homeserver. Ya know, because it just has to backfill everything by design! So now all that illegal content is mirrored to a new server and it can't be deleted. Deletes don't actually exist. It just hides the content. But that server is actually hosting a copy of it forever now. 🤪

@feld I don’t really disagree with anything you said. I worked a little on this and some think even it doesn’t scale enough (let alone kubo, IPFS-cluster, etc). https://github.com/elastic-ipfs/elastic-ipfs

I was more trying to point out how common/easy of a dig it is “but that is used for xyz” when it comes to internetworking.
Ngl I have no idea which tool would be the “premier” for that. Maybe you’re right and it’s Matrix 😂

+Infinity your last point too. Where can I read about “new torrent stuff”?

@bengo IPFS doesn't actually work at scale, so it's not a problem

Once you have a couple hundred GBs on a server it falls apart. They don't even shy away from admitting this in their docs about the FileStore engine. If you do try to use Badger as your storage engine, it fails to garbage collect.

Total garbage really, we need people to focus on that new torrent stuff where identical files between different torrents can work seamlessly so you have access to more seeders
