    I was mistaken. So far, the peak heat of the day, a few minutes ago, was 101.5F, per the nearest Weather Underground station, and reflective of the area's weather stations. 3 straight days of 100+ temperatures.

      @sysop408 To which I say, beware of September, lol.

      To combat 116, which we have experienced, it takes at least 2 A/C's, or it climbs into the 90's indoors. I found this out the hard way! 😬

      @steter ugh. That totally sucks and even worse that it's that obscenely hot in Oregon. You guys have had some brutal summers in recent years.

      Down here in NorCal I can't believe how good we've had it all summer long. We've only touched the 90's a few times this year. I hope it lasts and I hope it gets better elsewhere.

      @steter
      It's insane.
      Both me and my berry bushes hate it.

      @steter We seem to have only hit 95 west of the river. I rode an e-bike to pickup groceries a few hours ago and it was okay on the shady tree-lined sidewalk but very hot in the middle of the giant stroad (Barbur Blvd, an "orphan highway" which our state Dept of Transportation refuses to let go into the 21st century.)

      @sysop408 I have mostly blocked light from 2 windows and a sliding door. If I completely did what I did when it hit 116F, it's identical.

      I've been a night owl since I can remember. It is a useful skill, if you're ever a musician.

      @steter I have a circadian rhythm disorder that means I'm up at night a lot. The need to cool down our house in the middle of the night is one of the few times when it pays off to not be able to sleep at night!

      When the heat is bad, I'm up all night moving an arsenal of box fans and floor fans around all over the place to maximize our cooling before it all begins again in the morning.

      Normally by this time of year, I've got our skylights covered over and some of our windows too. It's pretty dark in here during the day. Haven't had to do that... yet. 🤞
