>insects have a lot of protein

@GrungeQueef I heard in the past something about most bugs having some harmful toxins to humans if eaten in large quantities

@GrungeQueef The numbers on eating the bugs are obscenely bad. Like crazy hilariously bad even compared to chickens. Notice they always put them up against beef and always on "how much land" and "how much water they use" because nothing else comes out as a win for bugs.
AND EVEN THEN, the bug stuff isn't usable protein. It would all be turned into meal or flours AND EVEN THEN the bug have to essentially eat animal-grade feed (meant for chickens) to be usable as a meal or flour so there's almost very literally no savings there, especially as it scales up.
The whole thing is a fucking shambles, a lot of it driven on land use. They want farms gone so they can turn every corner of this planet either into their own private nature preserve or crammed-together spic slum housing for their future slave class.

@GrungeQueef They also conveniently forget to take into account how humans lack the enzyme production needed to properly digest chitinous (bug) protein when they push those numbers.

@snappler @GrungeQueef Also the humiliation factor. Luxury goods are only considered a luxury when they're rare, the upper class would love nothing more then to force the plebs to eat bugs so that they can feel all that much nicer enjoying proper meats in their ivory towers.
