   @f0x One could argue that it's the Brit's fault we don't like Metric standards -- British privateers captured a ship which had a man, Bromley I think his name was? Who was bringing back a copper meter-standard and a copper rod of precisely one kilogram to the US from France because Jefferson was all about that Metric Standard.
   
   It took 10 years for the standards to be delivered, and by that time no one cared about metric in the US anymore.
