This week I got an email notification from Uber that my payment for UberOne had been successfully processed. I had never signed up for UberOne. I went to my account settings to check and cancel and the cancel button resulted in a dialog saying that I could not cancel because a payment was being processed. I was directed to their 'support' chat which is of course a fecking 'AI' bot. After several clicks in response to banal automated questions my payment was refunded and my UberOne account was cancelled. I have now removed all stored credit card data from Uber (which I have to use occasionally for work because my employer insists on it). This seems like a rort so I advise any Uber users to look out for it.
