Lay awake for hours with things on my mind. So I employed a device which works for me.
I have an imaginary shelf behind me on the wall above the bed, and I put each concern and worry on that shelf, in the form of an emblem, icon or representative figure.
All the intrusive thoughts and worries are parked there overnight, and will therefore be available tomorrow, but now I can sleep.
It works!
