as a result of the new UK "Online Safety Act" a 19 year old was arrested for a private discord chat he was having with someone else about politics. He wasn't as far as we can tell a nazi or "far right", he just said something that the AI janny picked up on and it was immediately flagged and sent to the police. -

This is a mistake. They presume the desire to be online exceeds the opinions. This will just cause unpopular opinion havers to meet publically. -

@Humpleupagus @Terry Disagree, this will be an effective deterrent, especially for zoomers that tend to have grown up online and not have great face-to-face social skills, especially since we're talking about the UK, which does not have any meaningful free speech protections.

Just 15 years ago, England abolished seditious libel laws because they continued to backfire as they always have historically.
What will happen is zoomers will go out. They will inadvertently find others like themselves. Now you got beer halls and drunk, disenfranchised rabble. Win win. 😏 -
