   Hai Di Lao is moving closer to me (was previously in Cupertino and now there will be one in Daly City). That’s probably as close as it will get.

   Back home, going out to eat at HDL was a thing I did with friends and family. It’s been missing from my life.

   I would say that I don’t love hotpot restaurants in SF and would rather make my own, so there’s that. But at least there will be a HDL close by.

     In general, ‘nice’ Chinese restaurants especially global chains don’t open in San Francisco because recent Chinese migration is centered in Fremont, Millbrae, San Jose.

     You can find great Cantonese food in San Francisco but new non-Cantonese food? Much rarer compared to those places.

     @skinnylatte Ding Tai Fung is one of my favourite Asian chain. The ones in Toronto are pretty good.

     @FoodieKenobi yeah the closest one to us is in LA. :/ thankfully a DTF clone from Seattle just opened in SF (Supreme Dumpling). It may even be better than DTF
