     @lina @umamusumebu you have to consider how much of a feature this is too, as well as hashtags. you go on mastodon, tt, bsky, msky and they all have trending hashtags plastered somewhere on the ui. the user's culture too: the way people talked about picking an instance when mastodon was booming was basically like talking about picking a group because the local timeline is essentially that. you can even see how ackoma bubbles play into this. we know how pleroma devs are actually using pleroma and it's probably safe to say this project is rooted more in stuff like mailing lists, image boards and tumblr than microblogging. it's basically a different approach to social media that happens to have a big overlap and work well on the same federation protocol.
     I don't think we'll ever get those groops bros.................

     @lina @umamusumebu I think the pleroma groop thing is kinda ass now because it doubles posts from people you follow on the home timeline and the notif spamming self promotion from reposts is an uncomfortable mixture of handy and annoying
     one thing it has over hashtags is that it actually federates stuff and the pleromafe ui is better, and I guess you can block people but meh
     it's more or less what I figured it'd be too, you can tell why nobody bothers with this shit
