That period of time between launching a game I haven't played in a while, and understanding where I am and what I was doing in that game, is REALLY uncomfortable. It's like a light version of the confusion after an accident.

@murdoc I can't remember what game platform it was... but there was something I used to play on that let me attach a note to the game. So, I'd attach a little note with what I was doing. No matter how long it was till I came back, my note was there.
....but I can't remember what god damn platform that was, or why I stopped using either the feature or the whole platform.
Maybe it was voluntarily discarded, maybe it was discontinued? Who knows! -

I feel this mostly with strategy games. If I don't spend enough time to see it all the way through, then if enough time passes, I come back and can't remember what my plans were, what all my assets are, etc. And it ends up being too much of a barrier to overcome to get back into rather than start from scratch. At least with rpgs I have a mission log or something to tell me what I'm doing. -

@murdoc Kinda like the digital equivalent of putting a sticky note on a game cartridge. I could even stick screenshots in that note.
It had multiple notes too. So if there was some clue in the game, I could screenshot that, put it in a note.
Yeah yeah, Playstation takes screenshots, and organizes them by game they come from, but not with a note, and not easily accessible while playing.
This would fit with PS5, ffs! Just make it a card! The same cards that change per game already!

@murdoc I know the platform in question was not on PC, because I distinctly remember the downside being I had to type using the kind of on-screen keyboard you get on controller based handhelds and consoles. I remember that much. It's part of why I've gotten so damn fast at controller typing. It's cause I did it constantly.

@murdoc Unfortunately (though usually fortunately), my brain does not store screen size when remembering digital experiences. So I have absolutely no idea if it's a tiny handheld, or something on a TV.
It doesn't store display type either, so I wouldn't know/remember if it was a CRT. -

@murdoc Anyway... it was a killer feature. I'd absolutely LOVE if a similar thing was on PS5. Just a card, for each game, where I can stick my own notes. Bonus points if I could optionally, per note, allow my notes to be shared community wide. Kinda like how the game help uses video from other players - though that feature is auto and can pick any of my game recordings, unless I disable it.

@murdoc Stupidly, since that game help feature doesn't give me the granularity to pick what game recordings are used, I had to disable it. I'm unclear if it uses game recordings without my mic, since MY access to save my game recordings always includes my mic unless I've specifically disabled my mic or entirely disabled recording mic input.
I don't need to accidentally share private embarrassing shit with all of Playstation, lol.

@murdoc I'm absolutely FULL of ideas that Sony should implement in game consoles. I hope you aren't bothered if I share some of those ideas here in this thread.
I'm sure you've experienced it - once you get talking/typing, you can't shut up, lol

🔹 Update the damn social account linking. Nobody wants Twitter anymore, and it's not even Twitter anymore. Bluesy, Mastodon... C'mon!
🔹 Open the API to allow sending notifications to one's own Playstation! It'd be nice to be aware of important things despite being immersed in a game with my headphones on.
🔹 Building on that - Sound detection. There are phone apps that can alert you if it hears a baby crying, or a smoke detector. Intended for the deaf. Same idea.

🔹 Reading from online calendars! Being able to set a notification X amount of time before a calendar entry would allow me to game more, since I wouldn't be as worried about missing an appointment.
Just support caldav, ical, and maybe Google. Even if setting that up could only be done from my PC at the My Playstation site.
VITA USED TO READ GOOGLE CALENDAR! I used that, a lot, before I dumped all my Google stuff. It was actually the best calendar UI of all my devices. -

🔹 Integration with Home Assistant - not just for notifications. Imagine the immersion you could have if devs could set scene types, and you could use that to trigger your smart home.
Winter scene? Lower the thermostat just enough to give a chill. Dark? Turn down the room lights. Adjust RGBW bulbs match the prominent color of the scene! Assuming I had the money, I'd go fucking nuts with this!
Just drop an easy enable/disable in the dock for this feature, to turn it on/off on the fly. -

🔹 Network storage! FFS, just send my screenshots and game recordings to a folder on my network. Stop eating my damn console storage for this! This is not hard, at all! -

@murdoc Oh, I didn't wait for your reply. "I hope you aren't bothered" isn't a "may I?", it's a "This is happening, please don't get mad" lol

I completely understand, yeah I like to do that too with such ideas. Info-dump away. :BlobCatSmiley:
