@blenderdumbass Apple are famous for this, but the way that they play to their near-religious fanbase is convincing them that new features in iOS are innovations irrespective that Samsung launched them in Android several years previously.
@blenderdumbass big tech does not care about ruining anybody's reputation, it's not a winning tactic. The thing which wins is ease of use and reliability and the ability to connect.
@alecmuffett I don't think so. Maybe for the older generations. For the youth everything is now split into fan-bases and camps. To strategize for the future is to strategize taking that fan-base mentality seriously.
@blenderdumbass Which is fine until regulators discover it and then declare it to be an "unregulated wild west of illegal content and children using platforms where they could be groomed"
@alecmuffett Well Tor survived through that. We need to brace ourselves on the fediverse. And we will also survive it. We need to ruin the reputation of Big Tech faster than Big Tech can ruin the reputation of the Fedi, and maybe people will wake up to ageism for the first time in 125 years.
