   So he swore off relationships and started appearing on The Gong Show and in The Groundlings improv show. This was the late 70s - early 80s.
   
   A few years later his boyfriend was dead of AIDS. A few years after that Reubens was rich and famous.

     @judgedread Fags Bret Easton Ellis and Clive Barker seem to have semi-copied this strategy. While Ellis obviously has the sodomite's seething hatred of attractive women ('American Psycho' oozes with it) there's a healthy dose of antifaggotry scattered in.      Barker's depiction of the Cenobites as self-mutilating eldritch monsters driven to that point via pursuit of sensual experience is so obviously anti-faggot it is practically a confession.
