   The revolution sounds great. On paper at least.

   The problem is that my gut always warns me to stay as far away as possible from people who are willing to embrace violence.

   Regardless of who they are.

   And that makes for a bit of a situation, you know?

     @timberwraith Bad actors' awareness of that gut instinct a lot of us have is probably why they always want to paint anyone doing anything effective as "violent".

     Although, I should probably qualify what "gut" reaction meant for me in this context.

     They are a body of emotional and intuitive reactions shaped and driven by years of trauma from both being a victim of violence but also growing up in a culture that valorized violence and expected one to internalize violence as a part of one's very identity--being exposed to and internalizing toxic masculinity, during adolescence.

     And then rejecting it like a foreign object.

     That is what shaped my "gut."
