I watched Star Trek:TNG episode "The Nth Degree" - where Reginald Barclay is exposed to radiation (it's always radiation) that makes him inhumanly smart, culminating in his mental processes ultimately being moved into the ships computer.
I got to the scene where they have "cut off all audio and visual circuits" (I'm paraphrasing) to the meeting room so they can talk without Barclay - aka the computer - hearing them.
All while wearing communication badges that have mics. "What were they thinking?", I wondered. How could they ever feel like they have privacy?
Then I looked down at my Pixel phone.
