@thebitchisback Today it's mostly me doing a check after the power comes back and then reloading the text editor session and then yelling "GODDAMMIT" when the power blinks again.

@p that was me loading net off my phone, Goddammit I said enough is enough. Ordered a new modem and didn't even know I had a dish on my roof until the sales guy told me haha 🤣
Then he's like, you like to game?
I thought I had a PS4 and it turns out I've got a PS5 and just realised it after I got off the phone.
Now I'm trying to figure out how to factory reset some laptops I've got in bags.

@p I've got two laptops that are locked with passwords, surely there's some way around this shit?
I feel like such a noob 😂

@thebitchisback Depends on the laptop; I don't think you can do it with a Mac if it's org-locked, and anything else is gonna be motherboard-specific: sometimes you just short two jumpers, sometimes you pop the clock battery out of the thing.
Unless you mean, like, Windows password, then it's just booting a recovery disk.

@p interesting, it's the start screen password locked. I'm thinking maybe just go buy a new one haha 😂

Like, before it boots? I'm assuming that you aren't likely to be able to remember/guess the password. Depends on manufacturer, sometimes that's actually easier.

@p just checked. One is a medion AKOYA Intel core shit. The other is an Acer Aspire V3-571

@thebitchisback Apparently Akoya you can do some sort of offline crack by doing a BIOS backup. Acer usually lets you short a jumper on the motherboard if you crack it open, or apparently you can do an offline crack for that one, too.

@p they're both outdated pieces of shit 😂
I think it's time to get a new one.

@thebitchisback New one never hurts. I don't have any recommendations as I hate Apple's shit and since the x230 when Lenovo finally killed the Thinkpad's keyboard, I have gone full-schizo with my own hardware choices:

@p I can't picture you going full-schizo over anything, you seem so super chill.
This coming from the bitch who has admitted to being in the psyche ward as an inpatient 😂
Thank fuck for tegretol and Olanzapine.

@thebitchisback Ha, I am a paranoid motherfucker and I am also a man with very strong opinions about input devices. The entire point of a laptop is to have nice keyboard/mouse-device/screen and to get me onto a network so that I can talk to the real computers; put me on a machine with a chicklet keyboard and I will lose my mind within the week.

@p I don't trust myself with a keyboard, like, I can type about 240wpm once I get going haha 😂
Fuck knows how I type on this piece of shit phone haha I think it's the tiny hand thing haha 😂
The last time I used a real keyboard was like end of Yahoo days haha

@thebitchisback Oh, yeah, I developed strong opinions about keyboards due to work. Common in this profession. Before they went full-chicklet, Apple actually was doing decent keyboards for a little while (the USB ones that were clear with white keys) but that was a blip in their history.
I have a friend with a PS/2 to USB adapter, and plugged into that is an AT to PS/2 adapter, and plugged into that is his IBM Model M keyboard, the only keyboard he will use.
