@Azur_Fenix @Nepiant CoD and Minecraft, while big, were definitely not the patient zero that caused the current state of games. That was the iPhone's release and subsequent domination of the world. Smartphone gaming at some point in the early 2010s had already grown a larger market share than any console ever had, and it's not stopped growing. Yes, this is an entirely different landscape and market. The problem is that companies never recognized that. They have never stopped assuming that the smartphone general audience can be brought to the major games market. Thanks to that and porting Minecraft/GTA to phones, they got proven somewhat right about profits.
There's also the fact that pop culture started harping on video games to an obnoxious point. The Big Bang Theory was a show that consistently was in the top ratings and most watched shows in America for a decent chunk of runtime for example.

@Nepiant indie mostly. The other planet zero is probably CoD. I'm not going to count sports slop since those were gunna always to end up as they were after exclusive was gotten.

      > Minecraft is probably the patent zero...
pretty sure it was happening before that.
or do you mean indie games when you say "games as a hobby"?

@Nepiant honestly Minecraft is good and evil. It's good cuz it showed one determined and creative guy can still outdo a coop machine and that money is not a factor, only passion, vision, and time. The evil is it was a gate way game for normies, the extremely annoying type of autistic, and trannies. Plus once Microshit bought it it gave them sooooo much money and power plus influence. Minecraft is probably the patent zero when it comes to the infiltration of games as a hobby by faggots, niggers, normies, activists, and other undesirables in the hobby.

@Nepiant I think he's a touch autistic, but he's pretty based so no. He's ok unless he pulls a destiny somehow
