Here's my main problem: I don't need localization. I need the direct meaning of words. I can understand the emotion and the nuance from the vocal performance itself whether or not I know what the words mean by ear. This "Oh we have to put it in a way that isn't clunky." is bullshit. I can do the work with my brain.

As an example: there is not a single serious anime fan on this planet that does not understand what an honorific is and what it denotes.

@Goalkeeper @DrRyanSkelton The annoying part, even beyond the "localizing" is that they aren't just making it "more understandable," they're erasing the culture behind the product which made all this popular to begin with AND adding their own "better" version. So many localizers talk about how boring and straightforward Japanese is.

And yes, if you learn nothing about the culture, it seems boring. It is a nuanced method of communication that can be expressed well without "localizing" it and filling it with memes and whatever these fanfic faggots think is funny.

They obviously have no respect for the art, they have no respect for the culture that produced it, and they imagine themselves as improving it by spicing up "bland" characters, ignoring that the cultural output being interesting and good is the only reason they have a job in the first place.

I hate it so much. I hate that most localizers don't even speak the language, let alone understand the culture. They need to be killed. It's such a brilliant and easy way to learn about a culture, learn about their quirks and world view and customs, and these faggots delight in shitting it up.
