Yet another reason people need to bite the bullet and delete ALL Meta apps and leave the platforms. Do you really want Zuck to have access to your nudes or politically sensitive stuff which he could then share with Trump?

@ilust606 @Sarahp And yet another reason iOS and Android need to completely remove the capability for apps to use their own media pickers with access to your entire gallery, and force them to use a system picker that only exposes the photos you've selected.

(Yes I know iOS has a mode to expose a limited gallery view to the app already, but the UX is unusably bad, and forces you to go through two stages of "picking". It's not comprehensible to normies, and not providing any protection by default, so it's effectively useless except to privacy experts.)

@ilust606 @Sarahp It's really disappointing that they only begrudingly add minimal, broken-UX protectsions for this kind of shit when it's already too late, rather than predicting the abuse and cutting it off early. We knew this was needed 6+ years ago. They had time to deprecate it and ban publishing of new updates that use direct access in a way that would have protected users in time without being disruptive. And refused to.
