   @domi @toast @LilaHexe @ar the real fun starts when it's your matrix server goes down, and the only way to contact you is via matrix (also there's no read receipts so i assume you're just ignoring me)

   i had _two_ friendships that almost fell apart due to this

     @domi @toast @LilaHexe @ar (as a result i am less likely to befriend you if you are self-hosting your matrix server on a raspberrypi at home. or even at all really)

     @ar @domi @toast @LilaHexe this is an improvement but it's the type of information i really want to know _before_ i choose to rely on a communications channel

     (am i neurotic about this? yes, for good reasons. am i going to change this? fuck no)

     I am self-hosting my own matrix, fedi, and email servers.

     i am reachable via signal, and - worst case scenario - a phone number i haven't changed in over 25 years.
