   The best trick the wealthy 1% have ever pulled off is to convince the politically vocal (and influential) next 20% that one day they could be super wealthy too, and so increases in tax on the current wealthy, are really increases of tax on their future wealth....

   By the time the 20% realise the 1% have made sure they'll never get that wealthy a new generation is waiting to be hoodwinked!

     @ChrisMayLA6 The same applies if you substitute 0.1% for 1% and 1% for 20%. The thing about exponential curves is that you're a lot closer to the points on one side than the other.
