GNU Too (gnu2@gnusocial.jp)'s status on Wednesday, 16-Nov-2022 15:10:48 JST GNU Too @emilylhauser @GWillow That's not necessarily true. While Mastodon may have added the EDIT feature that has been supported by AP for some time, not every platform on the 'verse supports that feature, so if you just EDIT some of your followers will never see the update. Also EDIT takes longer to update across instances than DELETE does. So, for use cases like you post something and the immediately see you had a typo, DELETE & RE-DRAFT is the better option. The only downside to is that option would also delete the comments of anyone who commented on your post, so if you have already received comments and you don't want to lose them EDIT may be better.
Does the latest version of Mastodon offer both options, or did they replace the one with the other?
