     @heidilifeldman I always remember this exchange between my uncle and my grandfather, who was a WWII veteran.
     "I don't know how y'all pulled through, daddy."
     "At the time, we didn't know if we would."

     It only looks like a heroic story after someone makes it so. Until then, it's a lot of people not sure what tomorrow will bring.
