@ninja8tyu
It is an Austronesian language with many words of Portuguese and Malay origin.
Republika Demokrátika Timor (Lorosae), is a country in Southeast Asia. Timor is an island south of Insulindia, divided between the independent state of East Timor and West Timor, part of the Indonesian province of East Nusa Tenggara.
Tetum developed as a contact language during the 16th century, following Portuguese colonization.
The Tetum name for East Timor is Timor Lorosae, or 'country of the rising sun,' which is the country's official name.

A little more summary to give a clearer idea,thx:
The Malay Archipelago, also called Insulindia, is a geographical region that constitutes the insular part of Southeast Asia, composed of a large archipelago located between the Indian and Pacific Oceans. From an opposite perspective, Insulindia would refer to the relationship of this archipelago with the continent of Oceania. With more than 25,000 islands, it is the largest archipelago in the world by surface area. It includes the countries of Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Brunei, Malaysia, East Timor, and sometimes most of Papua New Guinea. The island of New Guinea is not always included in the definitions of the Malay Archipelago. The name is based on the concept of the "Malay race," and not on what could be mistakenly considered the demonym of the country of Malaysia. The region is also sometimes referred to as the East Indies and Maritime Southeast Asia.
