   But I think you could definitely still design a social media website that is safe for teenagers.
   
   However you would have to actually outlaw the harmful big tech giants first, because it won't be able to compete similar to how eating fruit can't compete with doing heroin...

     @h@hoorny.nl I gotta say I get really happy when I see young adults on the fediverse making their own retro looking personal websites and little blogs in plain HTML/CSS and adding backlinks to friends from their network with these with these old school buttons and stuff. That's what the internet was like when I grew up.
     
     Unfortunately that's like a much smaller minority of people nowadays tho.

     @Ree@shitposter.world @h@hoorny.nl I know about Spacehey. I think it's is cool that some people are willing to keep it online, but I'm personally not that interested in spending time there. I am no longer a teenager and I have different interests now.

     I really miss oldschool PhpBB style forums.
