   We have a friend that’s an #immigration attorney in #LA and she’s losing her shit. Her work with clients is being used to kidnap them. They’re grabbed if they appear for a hearing, regardless of the judge’s ruling. And even if with her help they were adjudicated to live and work in the US decades ago, the record of that fact is used by ICE to kidnap them. So her phone is ringing off the hook *and* all the tear-gassing and gunplay and kidnapping is occurring at her place of work.

     Talked to a friend today who is a criminal defense attorney, mostly for high dollar criminal business and tax evasion. He said that federal prosecutors (his typical opponents) are really pissed off. The government isn't prosecuting real crimes any more, which is generally why these prosecutors got into the job, and their new work is coping with a criminal justice system completely clogged up with immigration matters. Apparently all that matters now is deportation quotas.

     @impermanen_ This really is the end of law & order and Justice even a fig leaf because it's this woman's duty to zealously protector clients so she can't tell them to come to court anymore even if they have a bench warrant because it really doesn't matter if they have a bench warrant

     So she tells them not to show up and she then goes and throws herself out the mercy up for the court saying I advised them not to come because we know what's going to happen if they do
