Last year was the first time I heard the entire Beach Boys song, Good Vibrations from beginning to end. I had never felt the need to listen to it. The chorus from that song has been overused as universal backing music and applied in the service of advertising to sell anything and everything. I certainly felt like I knew that song from incidental exposure to it.

If this describes you, go listen to that song all the way through. It's not the saccarine bubblegum pop song that it masquerades as. In its own way, the full song is as wild and weird as Bohemian Rhapsody.

There are some excellent reaction videos on youtube of people hearing Good Vibrations for the first time with the same bias of having heard snippets for years in advertising and beach movies

      They're excellent

@sysop408 the A section of that song is one of the most delightful melodies I know of

@sysop408 @asthargf something that I read as a child and left a mark on me was an interview with Paul McCartney, in which he said "you're talking as if happy or catchy songs were easier to compose. Where did you get that idea?".

I think it applies to the Beach Boys.
