     @lanodan @cell It was called the Northwest Territories for a while. You still see the occasional reference to it being the "Northwest" among locals on the west coast of Lake Michigan, even though most everyone else in the country associates the Northwest with Washington, Oregon, and maybe Idaho.
     
     Also when we were figuring out things like how to name regions, it was west of most of the country at the time.
