@helene@p.helene.moe PleromaFE was originally made as a better alternative to Qvitter since the latter had a lot of bugs especially on mobile. The backend came later.
@norm@helene fun fact: parts of the code for supporting GNU/Social (i.e. QvitterAPI) are still there, just unused and untested. ;_; i miss qvitterapi...
@gnusocialjp@norm@helene@hj Just curious, why are you using GNU Social? I think you're the only known instance actually running it (which is why i made an account to poke at it, lol)
@neko
Sorry for late. I have some reasons for using GNU social (GS).
1. I believe GS is the best for distributed SNS (DSNS, fediverse).
2. GS use LAMP (CGI) architecture. So GS can install on web shared hosting same as WordPress!. This allows user reasonable cost and easy to install than VPS (Mastodon/Pleroma/Misskey and so on). I think WordPress is the most popular SNS.
3. Goal of DSNS is the operrate SNS by own your self for everyone (including non-IT engineer!). For this purpose, 2. is very important.
4. DSNS is part of Free Software movement. I am interested in FSF since 2013. I am a FSF associate member so I think I should priority to support GNU project.
5. GS has long history (born in 2008-05-05). I think someone should keep GS.
6. In Japana on 2022-07 famous person started Mastodon server and Japan has DSNS boom a little now. For promoting GS, I started this server (here is detail <https://web.gnusocial.jp/about/site/>). I have been operating GS on alone server since 2018-05 (senooken@social.senooken.jp). So I thought I suit for this role.
