     Linux requiere un proceso de inicio (init) para arrancar (es solo un núcleo y no opera por sí solo): https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/tree/init/main.c#n1522. Si no encuentra uno, entra en pánico (panic()) y se apaga. Hoy en día, ese rol lo cumple frecuentemente el sistema operativo systemd, que suele ejecutarse sobre el sistema operativo GNU, del cual depende.
     
     Requisitos mínimos de Windows: renunciar a tu libertad.
     
     Requisitos mínimos de una distribución libre de GNU/Linux: ejercer tu libertad.
     
     El software libre es una cuestión de libertad, no de precio.
