Found out my department is getting outsourced to India. Management asked me to keep it quiet, but I told all my staff instead. Chaos in the office, company has ground to a halt making essentially no money. Corporate overlords can go gargle my sweaty balls.

@fesshole Good for you! About 10 years ago I worked for a company that outsourced the entire dept to India. They told upper management *at the same time* as all worker bees. Way to keep management on your side! Also, they proudly announced no severance, so everyone quickly jumped ship.
Sucked for the folks in India because no one was left to train them.

@fesshole Indian here. Good job. Telling people the truth is the best way to honor them. They could have at least found jobs earlier had they been told. Now, they have less time.

@fesshole After a year of just not getting anywhere at a job I told my direct manager I was resigning because this was a huge waste of time. He agreed but told me to hang on for a couple weeks and I'd be getting laid off. I would have missed my 8k severance. Spent the month not giving a FUCK and just helped those around me. Time came, sure enough there I was...top of the list.
One of my coworkers narked the guy out and got to stay in that hellhole.

@fesshole "Outsourcing" is the main problem for world economy today. A rich 'owner' (who only takes profit, does not work) thinks he can own even more by getting the real work done in a country with low salaries. Result is lower quality for consumers and bad conditions for workers.
What if we internationally agree on this: same salary and working conditions worldwide, for all workers. Then everything would be made by the country that can do it best. Highest quality products, no more injustice. -

@fesshole Good for whoever that person is. I wonder if his company offered him a positive incentive for keeping it quiet, or if they just expected loyalty for no reason.

@fesshole Good. You're under no obligation to play along with management acting in bad faith.
